Play Kitchen Makeover

What?! I'm blogging?? One of my goals for 2014 is to get back into painting/selling furniture and I've found that, although blogging takes time, it motivates me to get stuff done. So, hopefully you'll be seeing some blog posts again! They'll probably be short and sweet, but at least I'm doing it :)

To get started I'm sharing a play kitchen makeover I just did for my daughter's 2nd birthday. We knew we wanted to get her one for her birthday for awhile now, so when a used one popped up online for $50 we snatched it up. It's made by KidKraft and when I researched I found it retails for anywhere from $140 - $199. So $50 sounded pretty good to me. We've had it for a few months and I just decided last Wednesday that it needed to painted! Leave it to me to wait until the last minute.... a door had fallen off and instead of putting it back on I wanted to replace it with a cute ruffled cover. Once the cover was made I decided it made the kitchen look drab in contrast, plus it had some wear and tear that needed some attention. So without further ado.....

I wiped it down, removed all the hardware and taped paper in the microwave and oven openings so I wouldn't get overspray in there.
After just one coat of spray paint+primer I was already loving it!

I just used gray primer on the hardware and one coat of polyurethane.
Baaddd pictures, I know, but at this point it was dark outside and I was scrambling trying to get done.

The finished product!!

Isn't the ruffled cover adorable? I have to give my Mom the credit, she whipped it up for me!
And a side by side comparsion:
Much better, right? I think so!
