"Mirrored Windows"

My mirrored windows are up! I have to admit, after we hung them last night I wasn't so sure about the whole idea. Jonathan, on the other hand, really liked them. Which is a little surprising since he thinks I can come up with some pretty crazy ideas :)

Much better, don't you think? It's amazing how bright it is in here now! Both the before and after pictures were taken on sunny days with the same amount of lights turned on.

Here's the view sitting on the couch...


And if you're wondering, it's not like you're sitting there staring at yourself - when you're on the couch you can't even see yourself.

I love the outcome. I wasn't 100% sure at first, but now that I've gotten a little more used to it I'm loving it. What are your thoughts? Like the blank canvas before? Or the mirrored after?

  12. Holly I LOVE them!! The wall didn't look bare befor at all, but it does look better with them I think. I also love your den, it's such a shame I didn't even know what your Den looked like! I am coming 3ft up the road one day to see the inside of your house! haha.

    I love what mirrors can do. What a great idea to place a pair on each side of your fireplace. What a big difference. They look like windows and expand the space. I have a narrow family room and placed a large mirror across from a wall of french doors. I love the light it reflects.

  45. I am so excited that I stumbled across this post. I read it a few months ago...I think from Better After. I was so impressed. I was in a thrift store last week and found 4 of them at $5 each. I immediately thought of your post and bought them! I hope to paint them this weekend and play around with where to put them. I am thinking around my garden tub?! I can't wait.     What color are you walls?

    I have brown leather too with tan walls and dark red/burgandy fireplace wall. I am ready for a change. We have a light oak mantel that daddy will not let me paint though.

  60. I found your blog through Pinterest. I have a dated honey-oak window pane mirror that I was about to donate, but I think I'll give painting it white a try because your mirrors reflect so much light.

    I LOVE your curtain fabric. I know that you wrote you purchased it at Mary Jo's, but would you happen to know the name of the manufacturer or the pattern? I'd like to use something like this in my master bedroom, but we don't have that store around here. Thanks!
